Former U.S. Open and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz withdrew from the Monte Carlo Masters on Tuesday due to a right forearm injury.

"I have been working in Monte Carlo and trying to recover until the last minute from an injured pronator teres in my right arm, but it was not possible and I cannot play!" the Spaniard wrote on social media. "I was really looking forward to playing... See you next year!"

Alcaraz, 20, was slated to play Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada in the second round of the tournament on Wednesday. Auger-Aliassime will face lucky loser Lorenzo Sonego of Italy instead.

Alcaraz, who is ranked third in the world, won the 2022 U.S. Open and 2023 Wimbledon.
