The Colorado Rapids said Thursday that they did not intend to re-sign forward Diego Rubio with his contract expiring.

The Rapids also chose not to renew Jack Price's option for 2024, making the team captain a free agent along with Rubio.

Rubio, 30, spent five seasons with Colorado and put up goals in a hurry. He ranks fourth in franchise history in MLS goals (38) and sixth in assists (26) over 114 matches.

The Chilean striker had an 11-goal campaign in 2019, his first season after coming over from Sporting Kansas City, and notched career highs of 16 goals and seven assists in 2022. But he was limited by a knee injury to 16 matches (13 starts) in 2023 and finished the year with three goals and four assists.

"We're thankful to Diego for everything he contributed to the club during his five seasons in Burgundy and wish him all the best as he moves on to the next stage of his career," Rapids president Padraig Smith said in a news release.

Price, a 30-year-old midfielder, had been with Colorado since 2018 after starting his career with Wolverhampton Wanderers in his native England.

Price only appeared in two matches this season due to a ruptured right Achilles tendon. In 123 matches (114 starts) over six seasons, Price tallied 35 assists and two goals.

The Rapids finished the 2023 season 5-17-12 (27 points), last place in the Western Conference.
