League: IPL
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is synonymous with big sixes and explosive batting displays. In the ongoing edition, the bar has been raised even higher with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) rewriting the record books for the highest team scores in IPL history.
SRH holds the top spot with a phenomenal 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 15th, 2024. This surpassed their own previous record set earlier this season.
SRH features twice in the top 5, showcasing their dominant batting form. Their earlier record-breaking knock of 277/3 came against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on March 27th, 2024.
RCB haven’t lost their batting prowess entirely. Their long-standing record of 263/5 against Pune Warriors India (PWI) in Bengaluru on April 23rd, 2013 still holds a place on the leaderboard.
The young Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) haven’t missed out on the high-scoring trend. Their 257/5 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mohali on April 28, 2023 secures them a spot in the top 5.
RCB makes another appearance in this list with their 248/3 against Gujarat Lions (GL) in Bengaluru during the 2016 season on May 14, showcasing their consistent ability to pile up the runs.
The IPL 2024 season has seen a new era of runfests, with bowlers facing an uphill battle against in-form batters. With the tournament still going on, it remains to be seen if these records will be challenged further.
