Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni turned back the clock with a vintage display of power hitting in a thrilling encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Friday (April 19). Dhoni’s blazing innings of 28 runs off just nine deliveries in the final three overs injected momentum into CSK’s innings as they posted a challenging score of 176/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Coming in to bat at No. 8 after the dismissal of Moeen Ali, Dhoni showcased his trademark hitting prowess, unleashing a barrage of strokes against the bowling of Lucknow’s Mohsin Khan and Yash Thakur. People sitting in the stadium jumped with joy after seeing this shot as Dhoni never played such kind of shots in his career so far. This video has been going viral on social media.
In the final over, Dhoni continued his assault on Yash, ensuring that CSK added 19 crucial runs to their total. Apart from Dhoni’s heroics, Ravindra Jadeja (57), Ajinkya Rahane (36) and Moeen Ali (30) also made significant contributions with the bat, bolstering CSK’s score. For LSG, Krunal Pandya emerged as the most successful bowler, picking up two wickets for just 16 runs in his four overs.
